Anyone start course calling yet?
I usually start the calling of places like Nation or Calabogie around this time of year to get estimations of their opening dates. They tend to get a little annoyed so I haven't started yet this year.
Has anyone made the first call or the first few calls, and got an update on an E.T.T. (estimated tee time)

I wouldn't waste your time calling until you can see more grass then snow. Even the courses who open really early and have snow stillin the bunkers won't be ready fo a little while yet. I would wait until the last week in March depending if the warm weather stays.

Dan does this every spring and posts the opening dates on this site. It is a little early yet, but stay tuned.

And then we cater to our friends as the middle men. It all works out to every opened course being full on the first day!

That's what I'm here for!
If I start calling too early I always hear a lot of - "have you looked outside?" I have to wait until there is at least a possibility of a date to target

Does anyone know the closest drive from Ottawa to be able to play golf on the last weekend in March? No matter where it is.

Liverpool, in Syracuse should be open 315 457 7170. It's not even a 3 hour drive. I played it on mar. 12. They even allowed carts.

We used to always play Radisson on the greens in Syracuse every year.. It was always open before anything else.. However we did drive through Syracuse on sunday morning and they were getting burried in snow.. I will be emailing them soon to see when they plan to open.. I will let you guys know.. BTW its a great course.. Robert Trent Jones Jr. design and they usually charge 30 bucks canadian at par..

On an added note, weather is milder here in kingston area, thus courses open earlier. I will send a clip and paste email to each course, asking politely if they can notify once they know open date, and mention possibility of Ottawa people coming down. International 2000 outside of Montreal is open. I'll be playing there Sun. Has anyone played it and if so, is it any good. It must be reasonable as they are charging $40 and they don't have a tee time left for the weekend.

Must be nice. Here's hoping that new putter of yours has a few one putts in it.

Just got back from International 2000 tonight. DON'T GO!!! $40 and the first green is still under water. The course itself is dry and not a bad lay out but the front nine greens were soaked. I'm talking like you had to move your balls to have a dry putt on some of them. Not to mention they are the same cups from last Nov. (my guess) It would have may be been worth $20 but definately not $40 and the 2:45 hour drive. Just my 2 cents. Liverpool in Syracuse is a much better deal for $20 u.s. and only 15 minutes further. But it was still nice to get out and play on a real course.
