I've always used Maxfli A10's. Great distance, okay spin, cheap at 19-22 bucks a dozen, but they are discontinued so when the stores run out they are gone. That said this summer I plan to switch to Pro V1's. Already hit them in a sim and can notice a little difference. Can't wait to get outside!

I use the Pro V1X. I like the feel for putting, good distance off the tee (a lot less spin then the Por V1), nice feel with the wedges and I find I can get enough spin on them to make them stop. I use to use Pro V1's, NXT and NXT Tours but found them all to be to spinny. I didn't gain a lot of distance by swithcing to the ProV1X, a few yards 5-10ish, but my miss hits are much straighter since there is less side spin as well. Down side is the price but you can always pick them up off the net for around $30.

I am have been using the Nike One Platinum and am planning to use them this year as well. Since my swing creates a lot of spin, the platinums seem to give me the least amount of spin compared to the other balls that i have tried, while still giving me enough touch around the greens.

Anyone use different balls for par 3s then the rest of the holes? Not sure if that's a rules infraction or not.

Anyone had experiences with the precept LADDIE extreme?

Heard lots of good comment about them (long with low spin on drives and soft cover for good feel around the greens).

Nike Super Softs so far this year for me, They are just what I need Low Compression for those really cold Iowa days, Low sidespin, boring flight for the wind (Always windy in Iowa), and nice drop and stop check on the greens. At 9 bucks a pop at samsclub they are the steal of year for me.

As a poor golfer (trying to break 100), I just go with a brand name distance ball that is cheap...around $1-$1.50 per ball (new). Two brands that I will be playing this year will primarily be Dunlop Super Loco (came with a free ball cap) and Noodle Al Dente.

As a rule I'll use any long ball that Wal-mart sells such as pinnacle gold extreme velocity or a Wilson long jack. The conditions here are usually quite soft and receptive but there are a couple of courses that I will have to play a Pro V1 cause of the amount of clay under the greens and lack of a good sandy base. It's very strange to hit wedges into greens and not even leave a ball mark, just mooshed grass where the ball hit on the green.

    A Great website

    Hey golfers, go to

    www.golfballtest.com

It is an independent site which compares balls on every possible basis, for the driver, iron, wedge they tested distance, spin, compression, durability and cost. I saw the balls I preferred onthere and was able to see a few alternaitve balls that compared nicely and were cheaper.

I would also like to chime in on balls at walmart. They sell balls that are low compression and they are very durable and play really well. I think they are called Tilo. $14.96 for 18 balls. I tend to use them in the spring and fall until conditions are good for the better balls but these are really good.

My buddy Dave gets all his balls @ Walmart...he loves the Locos, and you can't come close to Walmart's prices on those things... 20 for 20$ or something close to that.

I like the Callaway HX tour.

Anyone see that knetgolf has an ebay special on. Buy a bunch of balls and get a free round? Seems pretty awesome if it's true.

It is true, but it'll probably be the cheapest course in the area. I wrote them and asked which course they'd give for Ottawa buyers, and they won't tell you unless you buy first.

I seriously believe it doesn't matter unless your an awesome golfer. The "small mistake" or difference" won't be a different ball but a slight mechanical failure in your swing. Therefor I go to Walmart and buy the 48 balls in a bag for 19.99$.

Compression= Getting the ball to squish
Golfers with low swing speeds (< 80 mph) generally need a lower compression ball (70 or lower compression). Those with high swing speeds (95 mph or greater) will tend to do better with 90-100 compressions.

Most manufacturers don't list the compression any more. They usually categorized the balls into "soft" (55-70), "performance or distance" (75-85), and "tour" (90-100).

I already replied with my ball of choice NXT.

However...just an added 2 cents...play the same ball.
I used to consider myself a hack and changed balls all the time. I received the advice to pick a ball and play it.
Hack or scratch, every ball will react differently in spin, distance etc, you want to get used to what it does.
There may be times where you are confused at flying the green, just maybe your swing was perfect, its the different mix of balls you threw down that caused it.

I prefer NXT's or NXT Tour. Poor mans PRO V's Last year I bought some Callaway Big Bertha balls, I thought they were stones
I also had a doxen HX Reds sent to me by Callaway (for free) and tried them. But it was late in the year and cool so it was hard to tell what that ball is like.
I have also used the LOCO's and for the price they are a decent ball.
One ball I would like to try for a few rounds is the Hogan Hawk. Buddy of mine loves those balls, says they play like Pro V's but they are a lot cheaper in price.
My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

    Thumbs up

While I was in Florida, I bought a dozen of the new Calloway Big Bertha balls. Was very happy with them. Good distance and feel. Paid 17.99 at Target. Not sure they are available here yet.
