Tip for the day, from Joel.

A fun way to practice with a friend is to play "Call the shot." Have your friend tell you what to hit, for example: a high shot, low shot, hook, fade, or runner. This way, you will sharpen your shot-making skills and be able to make these shots on the course when you have to. Learning to have different shots is a big breakthrough in becoming a good golfer.

    Cheers, Joel

I chuckled to myself when I read your post. Years ago I played a lot of golf with a guy who could make any shot you called. The course we played had a par 3 with a big willow tree off to the right and in front of the tee box. The hole played 146 yds. We would stand on the tee, he would say to me "Call my shot" I would say high draw over the tree, he would pull it off. Low cutter, he would pull it off! High fade, low draw, he would pull those off too! The guy showed me how to hit a 3 wood from the trees, he would play it back in his stance and just rip it under the branches! Long before Tiger came along with the Stinger
My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

I'm not too successful at it, but I love experimenting with stuff like that. I'll read an article about how to draw the ball, and the next time out to the course, pretty much regardless of the situation, I'll be testing it out. I don't need someone to call it...I'll come up with the most ridiculous shots on my own It doesn't help the score, but it sure entertains those around me. And when i do pull it off, well, I'm a hero.
