    Malone/Lake Placid... early season

Anyone play these areas in late April? We are looking for ideas for a bachelor party and thought a weekend in late April might work. Courses up here should be open by mid-late April.... would they not open a little sooner down there?

Also, Lake Placid is at a higher altitude than we are, so they may experience a longer thaw than we do. However, I am not sure of that, just a guess.

Good point. I thought about it since it is in the hills. I may make some phone calls since I haven't seen anything online.

Sorry but Lake Placid it is a 1h30 pass Malone. My parents came from Valleyfield PQ, Malone is a 40 min. drive from Valleyfield. Fore sure, golf is possible for middle april. But, Liverpool golf course in Syracuse will be open next week.

Do you have it on good authority that Liverpool will be open next week?

Valleyfield! - you must have attended the hydroplane races over the years! Now THAT'S a party !!

In case anyone else is interested... things look promissing for late April.

I got an email from Saranac Inn course and they said they have been open late April the past 2 seasons.

At this site, http://www.mountaingetaway.com/Guide...acid/golf.html it says the season starts in mid-April in Malone but only May for Lake Placid.

Most of the Canadian golf packages here
    http://lakeplacid.com/shared/whattodo/golf_pkgs.cfm
are valid from April 1st (they must know we can't wait)

Barring some crazy weather in April, it should work out.

I think you misunderstood. He was saying the altitude (elevation above sea level) was higher.... not the lattitude.

Talking to the Lake Placid hilton people at the golf show, their pamphlet had a mid-May opening for the courses.

I did get my Malone tee times today for the June Trip

I went golfing the weekend of 25 february in ocean city Maryland. When we pass in syracuse, 2 inches of snow on the ground. Two weeks before 4 of my friends play Liverpool golf course (8 february) in Syracuse and cart was allowed on the golf course. So 2 days of warm weather and the golf course is oppen.

Hydroplane in fun but to get a good show you need a weekend with no wind. It is always the first weekend after the 1 of july.

Malone is my favorite course, but playing it in April ruins that opinion. For good conditions you have to wait until mid May.

There's a part of the course (11 through 16 west, and 15 through 17 east) that takes a very long time to dry out in the spring

I went down to Whiteface for closing weekend last season.....mid April and the mountain course at the Lake Placid resort was open. Lots of golfers out there....it's much like Calabogie and thaws pretty fast as most "mountain" type courses do.
