Why do you guys want shaft bands (just out of interest)?

The first thing I do when I get a shaft is remove the band w/ some goo gone..I hate the look of them, expecially when they get all tattered

Is it just for you because you like the look, or do you need them when attempting to sell?

Ok, was just wodnering because I'm getting my irons reshafted this week w/ accras and would like to take the bands off, but was a wondering if that was a good idea after seeing this post...thought maybe you were trying to sell and needed the bands, in which case I'd keep them on incase a do sell

Ask the fitter to give them to you. therefore if you ever decide to part with the clubs you'll have brand new shaft bands and will add a little bit to your resale value.

so the shafts don't come w/ bands, the club makers adds them? Either way I'll ask for a set of bands thanks

Clubmaker stick them on there 99% of the time(steel shafts) So if I was a crook I could just get some Dynalite shafts with Dynamic Gold shaft bands. How about that?Just kidding.

Slightly off topic, but how does one know exactly what the shafts are without shaft bands? I assume that one would have to trust the buyer if the shafts are used?

I just got a fitting @ Artisan, and Don knew what the manufacturer was by looking @ them, I guess several have distinctive characteristics. Also, he could tell their flex by doing a few tests on them w/ his gadgets (over my head )

I'm guessing that the average consumer would have trouble determining the autheticity though (I know I couldn't tell what was what other than an approximate flex based on feel when hitting)

Shaft steps. Different shafts different step patterns. Grip could also be removed for Rifles. You could get screwed with stepless shafts.

Just picked up my irons on friday from Don at Artisan.. He asked me if I wanted the bands or not.. He said most guys don't want em so he likes to give the choice.. Anyway I said yes I do.. Then I took em off when I got home cause the Accra ones are ugly..
