What's in the bag (dream set!!!)

If money was no object, what 14 clubs would you carry in your bag? What balls would you use?

    1. R7460 TP 10.5* or 11.5* reg flex RE*AX 60 shaft - Cut down to 44"
    2. G5 3W 15* 75g Prolaunch shaft reg flex
    3. G5 5W 18* 75g Prolaunch shaft reg felx
    4. TM resuce 19* steel shaft reg flex (no screws)
    5. TM resuce 22* steel shaft reg flex (no screws)
    6.-11. G2 5-pw steel reg flex black
12.-13. TaylorMade Rac Black TP Wedge (52, 56)
    14. 44" Scotty Cameron Studio Style Newport Putter belly putter

Ball - PRO V1's baby! Never hit one before and hear so much about them.

I can't hit a lob wedge anyway but maybe it doesn't make sense to have an 18* club and a 19* club in the bag... maybe I would pull one of those and get the lob wedge for sand shots... since thats the only place I would ever use it.

    Anyway, your turn

The great thing about golf fourms like this one is that you can usually trade stuff or buy the stuff pretty cheap to create your dream bag (or at least something pretty close).

I wouldn't really swap anything out of my current bag.

    10* Ping G2
    TM V steel 3 wood
    19* Cleveland Halo
    4-Pw Ping s59 irons
    56* Cleveland CG10 Wedge
    60* Cleveland CG10 Wedge

Putter: TM Corza Centre shaft or Scotty Tel3

I am not a huge fan of my big beast of a cart bag, the ogio boss hogg. Its a great bag, but it barely fits on a pull cart. I like my carry bags: A precept hideaway and some Ogio.

Balls - I got a whole bunch of ProV1s real cheap last year, so I guess im living your dream

I wouldn't mind trying the new Ping I5s and, knowing that i give into golfing temptation much too frequently, I will probably have tried them before the end of the coming golfing season.

You are all my witnesses.. once I get my driver and my new wedges I'm not switching anything. Not even to my dream putter. I putt really well with mine so no point and mine was sooo cheap ($30 on ebay)

Hmm... dream set. I'll only include clubs i have hit (or have).

    Mizuno MP-001 9* w/ Diamana or 757 at about 44.5" and 255Cpm.
    Sonartec 14* 3 wood
    Sonartec 20* hybrid
Either Titleist 735CM irons or Mizuno MP-33(am i good enough to hit a bladed 4 iron?) 4-PW
    Cleveland 588 RTG 52, 56, 60 degree wedges
Depending on the speed of greens either a:
    Cameron JAT prototype 33" putter(slow)

I would have to say that I am happy with my current set up.. I may go for a 905R when they become available.. The only thing I would love to have would be a Scotty Cameron Napa...

The only difference to my current setup would be shafts. I'd put those sweet 757's in my fw wds & a Pro LD accuflex in my driver.

Of course, a set of Ta2's would be nice too...

My Current Set is pretty much there but if $$ were no object...

    1. I might move to a 905R (depending on if I like it)
    2. I might entertain the idea of a new 3 wood, altohugh the one I have now is pretty damn good (and nice and cheap )
    3. I would reshaft my set (although I have an appointment @ Artisan for Saturday Morning, so that's prolly about to happen)
    4. MOre putters I've got the American Classic, and the Ping G2 Tess, but as spackler noted in another thread I'm missing the Yonex Super A.D.X and that new Cally that Hefty is sporting...can't get enough Flange Blades
    5. Since we are dreaming, I'd disregard that 14 club limit and have a 17 club set, and it would be LEGAL
    Driver, 3 wood, 2 hybrid, 2i-9i, 45* PW, 48* gap, 52* gap2, 56* sand low bounce, 56* sand hi bounce, 60* lob

pretty much what's in my signature, though I'd like to replace the wedges with CG10's. I like the looks of the new R7 but haven't hit it. That being said, I'd be surprised if I hit it better than the 580XD. Perhaps also the new R7 Irons, they look pretty sweet.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

I forgot, the Yes! Sophia. That's a nice looking flange too.

I'm pretty close to my dream bag. I love my G2 driver, my Hogan hybrids, my G2 irons, my Vokeys and my Scotty. I keep rotating the fairways though. I liked my Nike T40s but kind of soured on them. Then I got a Mizuno MP-001 which I loved last fall and which is still in the bag, but then I started fooling around with some Cobra SZs. They are soooooo easy to hit, so I'm thinking I might go that direction.

I'd definitely do some shaft ho-ing though. Driver, woods and irons would all get new shafts. I think I might take some courses in club building, just so I can tinker and avoid those costs.

    Cleveland TA3 form forged (gunmetal)
Top Flite micro groove putter (cheap and GREAT)
    Trusty Rusty 55*

    Items I don't own:

    3 wood (cleveland or titleist)
    Cleveland 588 wedges (47 special, 51 and 56) (gunmetal)

Reid, how are you liking the Ping G2 8.5 you picked up? I was wondering why you use an 8.5 and nothing something a little more lofted? I thought the lower the loft the more side spin and the more slicing and hooking. I guess if the swing speed is high enough it would give you more distance... but I thought even the pros were using more lofted drivers these days (9.5 and 10.5 mostly). Is it just personal preferance or is this there a method to your madness?

    Hey thotho:

I actually love the G2 8.5. Best driver I've ever hit. In fact I like it so much that I just picked up a second 8.5* head to experiment with at a shorter length.
As for the 8.5* of loft, one thing you have to remember is that Ping deliberately and admittedly understates the loft on their drivers by about a degree and a half. Therefore an 8.5* G2 is really 10*. I hit mine quite high. Also there is generous bulge and roll on the head so if you want to hit the ball higher, just hit it high on the face. Near the top of the head the loft is almost 12*.

    LOL! That is hilarious! -
I may be the only club 'ho on earth playing the Millenium fairway woods. However not looking for a driver. Thanks though.

If someone gave me $10K to spend on golf equipment, I'd probably get a new driver (find the perfect one for me, I don't know what that one is yet) ~$500 including the launch monitor, a new MP-R lobber $130, and I'd spend the last $9370 on putters.

A dream bag for me would entail a set of equipment from one manufactuer. But unfortunatley no one makes a good "everything" that would satisfy my needs. But I'll give this a try, but until I get a chance to try out the Adams set in the real world, I reserve the right to change my choices. And my dream bag might just entail clubs that I've hit the best of any particular club I've tried.

    Here goes:

Driver: R5 TP w/ Graman Limey UL 540 S-flex (probably the best and consistent driver I've ever hit, a Cleveland Launcher 460 w/ Grafalloy Blue is a close second, although I have yet to hit my Cobra or R7 460 TP yet).

Fwy Wd: Bridgestone J33 w/ Graman Limey UL 540 (thing was a cannon).

Hybrids: Haven't really found one I hit or like very much, although the Adams Idea Pro I have now looks nice, hope it performs as well).

Irons: Dream set is probably Nike blades (favourite looking iron of all time for me), but best I've probably ever hit (for consistency, accuracy, feel etc) would have to be.................I'm not sure, I'd have to think about it.

Wedges: Best I've used were TM Satin Y-cutters, just awesome.

Putter: No question, Scotty Futura Phantom Mallet 2, but the Guerin Rife Two Bar blade is a great performer.

But like I said, no one company makes a great everything for me, but if I had to choose a one brand dream bag, it would be the following, just based on looks:

Driver: TM R7 TP 460 w/ Diamana Redboard

    Fwy: R7 ST TP 15* & 18* w/ Diamana Redboard

    Hybrids: Nah

Irons: R7 TP w/ Project X or TT Black Gold or Aldila NV

Wedge: TM Y-Cutters w/ PX or BG or Aldila NV

Putter: Scotty Futura Phantom Mallet 2 (putter doesn't have to from the same brand )

All in a R7 Tour Carry bag.

I love my clubs, but I would do some tweaking.

Driver - Love the Tourstage 350Z. Can't deal with a bigger clubhead than that. I'd get a launch monitor done to find the right shaft and lie angle etc (though the 8 degree is giving me a pretty good launch angle when I'm hitting it well).

Woods: Well, I would love to try out hundreds of them, but I'm pretty happy with the Hogan I have right now. Plays well of the fairway, the tee, out of the rough, and out of tight lies. LOVE the sound it makes. Would definitely get a shaft upgrade.

2 iron: I'm still tying to find a TA 588 to match my irons. No luck so far.

Irons: I would do the launch monitor thing to get the right shafts/lie angles etc. in my TA 588s.

Wedges - I'd get a brand new set of trusty rustys, as the grooves on mine are pretty worn.

Putter - Love the SD 1.5 putter. I would not change it. Might get a sweet refinish done.

Ball - Here's my big upgrade. I'd start playing PRO Vs instead of XL 3000s

let me preface by saying I LOVE my bag and don't want to change anything...but if we are dreaming:

    Cally FT-5 LCG w Matrix TP-6
    B'stone J33 15* w Matrix TP-7x FW
    B'stone Airmuscle 18 & 21 w Matrix X-con Altus Hybrid
    B'stone J33B 5-pw w Matrix "DVD" shafts 5.5
    Cally X-tour "tour" wedges 52/57/61 w Black Chrome S400
Scotty Cameron Newport II Tour Black Pearl Finish *Scotty Maple Leaf Headcover*

I figure if we are dreaming.... cost of this little bag would be...:

about $8500 not including the Matrix iron shafts, which i have been told run about $5000-10000

    TaylorMade Rescue TP 07 2/3/4 w/Fujikura 904HBX
    08 Japan Release TP CB's 5-PW w/Black Gold X
Zodia US Spec Wedges 52/60 w/Black Gold X
