Scotty Cameron Newport Beach
Quick question. I just bought a new scotty cameron newport beach putter. It is a standard 35 inches. It is too long for me and my right hand index and thumb are actually on the shaft when I putt. I love the way it putts and I am afraid that if I cut it, it will change the dynamic of the club. Any advice?

It shouldn't effect it...
But if you cut it and don't like it you can always add a plug, and if you still think it's different, reshaft it (wouldn't cost much).NCGT Ryder Cup Team Green (06,07,08)

Thanks for the answer. Is Chuck Brown a good place to have it fix?

I think most places would be fine... Chuck's or GT would noth be great ... neither could really do any damage so which ever is closer would be fine
Also, GT is more likely to do it while you wait.NCGT Ryder Cup Team Green (06,07,08)

uh, you'll totally throw the swingweight off if you chop an inch or two off the putter...so if you like your putter to feel a certain way, make sure you have enough lead tape or tungsten powder to compensate.

i have a scotty cameron futura and it has been reduced from a 35 to a 33 and there is zero change in the club's structure or follow thru (balance) wont change a thing. it's even better because you will feel more comfortable with you're putter.
Proost!

What do you mean by "follow thru"?
When you cut an inch off a driver, the swing weight will drop (approx.) 6 swing points. A putter is no different. SF63 is right. If you cut it but would like for the swingweight not to change, you will need to add weight to the clubhead.
That is why certain Cameron models are available in heavier heads for shorter lengths. Unfortunately, the Beach is not one of them.

It's easy to fix, just pour tungsten powder down the shaft until you get your desired swingweight. And stop listening to people who may not know what they're talking about, or worse yet, reply for the sake of replying

Thank you all. At least I know what could happen when I cut it and what I should do about it if it does not feel the same afterward. Thanks again.
