Officially Crazy!
Well, the unthinkable has happened...
I just spend 850$ on a putter.
Yes, I picked up one of the 205 available LEFT HANDED Scotty Cameron American Classic VII's new off of ebay...
I'm pretty sure the seller was West Beach (from TGN).
Now here's the deal, I kept saying that I would play this putter if I bought it...now I'm not so sure that I can bring myself to putt with it...Which would mean that I just bought a very expensive piece of art.
seriously...someone put me out of my misery...I've evolved from a club ho to a cameron whore.NCGT Ryder Cup Team Green (06,07,08)

It's a really nice looking putter and you will probably make alot of great putts with it, but at the same time it's a collector’s item which will most likely appreciate and whenever you want to get rid of it you have a venue where fanatics with cash are always perusing. Isn't that where you found it? Also did you buy it because you really need a new putter or you just love Scotty Cameron’s (go back to previous sentence). I own a Scotty Cameron (not one like that) and I also own a top flite. I rotate all the time and find the top flite to be an equally sufficient tool for the job. Once you use it it's still a collector’s item but a used collector’s item. People that collect fancy expensive things tend to only pay high prices for new “Mint” items because they retain there value etc… These are just my random thoughts I apparently felt I needed to share for some reason when I read this post.

dHacka,
I actually have a Ping G2 Tess which is very similar (but not a stainless finish) that I have a feeling will stay in the bag...I have been poking around scotty fan sites, and have seen putters that were manufactured in higher quantities that are about 5 years old are selling for 2000$ + ... which really makes we want to keep it mint... and of course there's that guy that bought one for 35000$ not too long ago... maybe I'll get lucky and the other 204 will be destroyed in a fire or something lol ...NCGT Ryder Cup Team Green (06,07,08)

As I see it, you still have to put the Super ADX and Odyssey Tour Proto in the bag to corner the market on lefty flanges. Am I missing any?

I try. It helps my situation to relate stories from this forum to my wife. She still thinks I'm crazy, but I can argue it's relative. If only there were a Geoff or Reid of the lefty set...
And screw the 'art' aspect, if you like it, play it. People have no problem dumping $800 iron sets for $200 after enjoying them for a few years. You might knock a bit of value off the putter, but probably not much at all. It looks like a beautiful stick, set it free and enjoy it.

Glad to see someone spent big bucks on a putter instead of a driver. You can reason the price as you will have it for a life time and it works out to pennies a putt over a life time of practice and play.

Nat, if you're going to spend that kind of money on a putter, then you're ready to play some $$$$ games with me this summer! I can hardly wait for the season to begin. Seriously, good luck with your new instrument. It's a beautiful looking club.

Wow! Nice putter...
Man, I gotta say, putters of that price are a bit out of my league. I'd be scared to play it too!The opinions expressed in this post are mine and may not necessarily reflect the opinions of others on OG.

Yes, NWILLIAMS, you are officially crazy! I thought I was bad sending my Pro Platinum to Black Oxide Service to get the triple black finish with custom paint fill for $200 USD, but you sir have outdone me and then some! I don't feel so bad now - thanks for that!
Nice putter, BTW.

that's a good deal on this putter. I am currently bidding on a Cammy tour which is gonna be about that same price, if not more. That putter is a beauty and it would def be a gamer for me. I have spent 500+ on putters before and Scotty's are worth it, its like anything else, you pay for what you get. This putter is made from better material and is well worth the money.
Just think you are not crazy because you are gonna use it. Real club ho's buy clubs that they don't intend to use, just for the sake of buying something. If you intend to use it, or at least try it, not a real ho cause at the price you paid, you can probably get 100% of your money back if you don't like it.

I love wasting money on fancy equipment as much as the next guy but it's the indian shooting the arrow not the bow that determines accuracy when you are at a certain level of performance / quality.

I am definately on board with Daveandyk on this matter. It may seem like a lot of money at this time, but you get what you pay for. The mindset with this putter in your hands alone will increase you confidence. This putter will have great feel and the level of golf you play will not permit damage to this club. I am sure that you may have some sole wear, but no face damage. This club is made with the best materials, has the best balance and most of all the best feel. Enjoy.....

Even if you used it for a season and totally abused it (sacreligeous!) Wouldn't you be able to return it to the studio for the full restoration?
Use it use it use it

Sakuraba,
That's what i was thinking aswell... I'd already made the decision to use it (and never leave my bag unattended @ the course lol). Then I realized that if it becomes particularly valuable amongst collectors and i want to sell then i can shell out a couple hundred $$ to restore itNCGT Ryder Cup Team Green (06,07,08)
