    Golf Shows?

Does anyone one know of any golf shows coming soon to Ottawa?

    Really? No decent deals?
Also, where's the OAC? I know of the NAC, is that what you meant?

It's not a waste of time if you like free golf! The passes I got last year paid for the entrance fee 10X over! The demo stuff is pretty lame and most of the booths don't have much. Most are just selling off old stock which never did sell for a very good reason, but that;s what these things are for I guess. They usually give you a couple free rounds with you entrance ricket and there are lots of 2 for 1 coupons to be had. Worth it if you like to play cheap rounds at different courses.

Ottawa Athletic Club, 2525 Lancaster Road just past the science and tech museum.

Grated there is no deals but I always go to kick off the season and take a look at some new products.

It’s also free if you consider the green fee’s they hand out.

I agree that it is not a waste of time - the coupons alone are worth the price of admission. If you're planning a golf trip somewhere, all the destinations have a booth. Some of the local clubmakers like Artisan, Straight Ball and GolfWorks so you can talk to them in person and see what they have in stock.

And I actually like the demo area - Callaway, Taylor Made and Cleveland are always there, along with a few others. I guess if you're a "Titleist Man" then you may be a little disappointed, since Titleist hasn't been there in a while. But I like to check out some of the clubs I might be buying in 2-3 years when the price comes down!

Absolutely! For guys like you and I it is the Golf Show of the Future.
Why just a couple of years ago I was checking out the brand new and very expensive Ben Hogan Apex 50ths. Now they're in the bag.
This year Hogan has another Apex blade coming out, so the Ottawa Golf show is a chance to me to check out what I'll be playing in 2008.

I wasn't too impressed with the show either. If I want to see equipment, I can go to Golftown.
The Montreal Golf show is much better, not sure of the dates.

Each year seems to get worse...less freebies. I'm skipping it this year.

Just showing up is worth it. Last year we got a free round at Smugglers Glen. I would have never played that course if it weren’t for the free ticket. Great course by the way. Hope they give one out this year too.

½ price on Mt-Ste-Marie and a free round at Cascade. If that’s not worth $12 I don’t know what is.

Last year freebies from Smuggler's Glenn were great. I agree every year is the same. The Toronto show has a little bit more bells and wistles

I will agree that overall the show is very disappointing, but the freebies always make it well worth the effort of going.

I used all my free golf coupons last year - actually I ended up with 5 smugglers coupons (3 free rounds for me @50?) - gave 2 away late in the year, Mont. st marie for half price, and another one, Le sourcier I think was free.

Plus I signed up for a credit card and got a dozen loco balls - and cancelled the credit card the day it showed up.

All that for 15 dollars worth of balls?

Why not? 3 minutes to fill out a form, 1 minute to cancel. Seems like a good return on my time to me.

I hear you Andru... To this day, I still get phone calls from telemarketing companies claiming they got my name from a golf show (must be the one at OAC 'cause it's the only one I've ever been to...).

Plus I found that I didn't always used the passes they gave out 'cause I have a membership.

Those are the reasons I don't go anymore.
