Gainey didn't hire Julien, so I guess it's not that surprising, more dissappointing. GMs always want their own guy sooner or later. I think Julien is a very good coach though.

No way that deal would ever happen, not with Huet playing well and Carey Price, the number 5 pick from last year's draft, only a couple years away. Also, isn't Washington still paying big bucks on Jagr's contract?

Thats the news from cjad in Montreal.
Theo comes up big tonight or hes traded.
I like Julien, like his style. But i have said since last year that Theodore is not
    worth what hes getting paid.

Cristobal Huet was suppose to get the start tonight that's what TSN/Sportsnet was reporting earlier but with the firing of Julien your right that could definitely change for tonight. Will make the Habs game a little more interesting tonight.

What is the actual news covanant? Did the coach get canned? And is there rumours that Theodore and Ribiero are on the trading block? Haven't checked any sports stations today so eager to hear what this is all about. But only because I am a hockey fan, not a Habs fan. GO SENS GO!

Looks like fireice answered one of the questions for me.

Going out of town next week,so i was loading up my laptop with wireless
to make sure i can listen to the montreal game next thursday.
Loaded up cjad(the voice of the habs in montreal)on the radio.
Thats what i heard,Gainey fires Jullien, takes over for remainder of season.
Guy Carbonau to lead next season.
As far as the trades go,only speculation.
But man!would i like to see Kolzig in a habs jersey!

He's like 36 or 37 isn't he? And except for his Vezina trophy a few years ago he hasn't had much to brag about. I would rather keep Theodore. Everyone is going to have a bad year or two in their career. But the up sides to Theodore are much more than those for Kolzig.

Why didn't they wait until after tonights game to fire the Habs Coach? Maybe the team would not have been fired up like they were and my Sharks could have won!

When I heard the Habs had fired their coach and Gainey was going on the bench for the game I knew the Sharks might be in trouble. That's usually what happens when there is a coaching change, the team responds knowing that some of the players could be next to go!
No use being bitter about it, it's just a game of hockey

As for BS's excuse, I doubt he posts after that game last night in Hogtown

I don't want to drum up too many rumours, but here on the West coast, Mr.Nonis & all Canucks fans are in panic mode. Alex Auld is not ready to be a starter, & they lost confidence in Oullet almost right away.

The two names i've been hearing over & over are Biron from Buffalo & Theodore. Buffalo wants some scoring punch in return for Biron, & i'm not sure what the Habs are looking for.

Habs fans should make a wishlist from the Canucks roster & start emailing the head hab brass. Or make some signs & stand in front of the TV pits at the games. U never know, it just might work.

Doesn't really matter to me, as i'm a Leafs fan, & our team stinks. I really wish they'd just gut the team, trade off all the dead wood like unibrow(kaberle) & big softie(berg) for some draft picks, take their lumps for a couple of seasons & be a great young team 4-5 yrs down the road.

I look at guys like Steen(superstar potential) Carlos(who knew he could hit like that?! thank god, cause i really dislike comrie...) & Wellwood, & think it's just a waste. Playing in front of Eddie, who i like, but is verrry inconsistant as he is a 40yr old reflex goalie. Bad combo. A weak defense core, Kaberle, Berg, Khavanov(there's a reason you keep getting traded buddy). A group of overpaid, underacheiving forwards who refuse to backcheck. Lindros(don't get me started...), Allison(ditto), O'neil(has moments where he looks like Hurricane Jeff who dismantled us so nicely).

I still like Sundin, he can score & win faceoffs. He's got to take it to the net alot harder, though, ala Bertuzzi & draw some penalties. Tucker is valuable. He never quits & plays like he's 6'4 & 250. Domi is making the most of his reduced icetime as well. At least he'll shoot the puck, even though his defensive coverage leaves something to be desired.

Geez, i'm really starting to rant here...

Eastern conference-Ottawa, Carolina or Philly. All three have legit shot.
    West-Calgary.

If Gainey trades Theo Souray & Ribiero for Kolzig he should fire himself. Ollie's no upgrade. They need some offence in MTL

No trades and lets not panic. We might make the playoffs.

I like Julien but his defensive still may not fit the organisation.

We are looking at a western style coaching staff now. This might be interesting. This team has sown great speed at the beginning of the year. Something that was lost during the slump. If they get their confidence back and open up the ice like the western conference does it will be fun to watch.

I liked Julien too, they just don't have enough talent now. The Habs limit themselves by restricting any coaching jobs to francophones only. What about Ted Nolan?

I like two-time two time world junior gold metal champion Brent Sutter. But like you said, no English in MTL.
