    Ping Anser / Scotty Newport

Wondering if anybody has used both putters and can honestly tell me if there is a difference or not.

I have the old Ping Anser 2 and while I love that thing...I cant help but be drawn to the Newport Scotty Cameron! Its oh so beautiful, and has a "feeling" of prestige with it.....like the whos who of putters. It is more or less modeled like the Anser Pings......albiet with a difference material for the head.

    Is it worth the money?

They look the same, but with scotty , depending on the finish, you'll have a heavier or lighter head. They don't sound the same, ping sounds more high pitch. But i tried the newport and newport 2, and i prefere the Newport 2. You should also consider the newport beach if you like the sound of it.

A putter is always worth the money as it is the club you most use on the course. Why spending 500 on a driver you hit 7 times and 20 on a putter you hit 30 times?

I have an old Dalehead Anser and a Scotty Newport 2. I prefer the feel in the Newport by a wide margin. As for the newer ones, I didn't like the inserts on the G2 series putters, supposedly the G5s are much improved.

Maybe you can find a 85029 anser on ebay, keep it and you'll sell it for a couple of hundreds in some time.

I'm not a big fan of the insert putters.....had a Odyssey Rossie II and it was ok.....but...depending on where you hit the ball off the face the results could be very different. Little high, or a little low...and it would rocket off....off the centre it was pretty sweet.

My Anser 2 doesnt have a "pinging" sound to it, but I think I know what your getting at Bucky.....the Scotty has a "duller thud" on impact? If so, thats what I like. Thats one big reason I bought a G5 3-wood, sounds like a persimin!

Lol, the studio design putters sound really special, seems like the club isn't made from steel.
