    Heatley – Hossa deal

    Is their any doubt that the Heatley – Hossa deal was a good one for Ottawa?

    Yes it does but I am willing to bet there are still some that think it was a bad deal and the Hossa is a better player.

    Even straight up it was a great deal for Ottawa. The fact that they got Atlanta to take deVries and his salary as well was an added bonus.

    It was a great deal from day one. They saved $3-4M per year in salary. Even if Heatley had only produced at half the rate he is, it would have been a good deal for Ottawa in the salary cap era. The fact that he is burning up the league is a huge bonus.
