To summarize, tournament starts with 34 players and gets cut to 16 after 36 holes and gets cut again to top 8 players after 54 holes. Then the slate is wiped clean and all 8 players start at even on Sunday, with the winner getting a $1M payout and second place only getting $100,000.

I think they should do it the other way around. Single rounds to get down to the final 8 then a two round playoff for the million. Just not comfortable with the one round playoff. Like you said, it would be for whoever peaked at the right time. At least over two rounds you'd have to sustain your momentum. And with a million on the line you knows what the pressure would do to some on day two. I do like the idea though.
