    Where Is Team Canada?

Unless I missed it, there is no Canadian team at the World Cup event in Portugal. Where the hell are guys like Weir, and Jon Mills as both are secure for the PGA Tour in 2006?

If Paraguay and Venezuela can send a team, we should as well.

I think that Canada just didn't decide to try and qualify this year. I don't understand why, we got Weir and Ames so i dont' understand either.

    Weir turned it down...

If a country has a player that is ranked in the top 100 (I think that's the number), then that country gets an entry into the World Cup, provided that player plays. This year, as well as last year, Mike Weir decided for whatever reason not to play.

Craig Taylor (from PEI) and Stuart Anderson (from Edmonton) had to go down to Mexico to play in a qualifier to get in to the World Cup, but they finished I believe sixth...and the top four countries qualified.

Got all this from cangolf.com about two months ago, btw...

Why would Weir not play? Kind of sucks for him not to represent Canada, considering the support he gets from Canadians, who treat him like Wayne Gretzky. Plus he would take another Canadian player with him, no doubt someone who could use the exposure to world-class competition.

You are correct as I had forgotten about the qualifying issue. Perhaps Mike considers himself more American than Canadian since he has resided in Utah for several years.
