"Reward"
Develped an interesting shotmaking game with a friend during the 63 holes we played on Wednesday and Thursday. Total points wins.
Points that can be won:
Hit Fairway +1
Hit Green (GIR) +1
Hit fairway or green on 2nd shot on par 5 +1
Birdie +2
Eagle +3
Chip in +1
Sand Save +1
Points that can be lost:
Ball in bunker -1
Ball in hazard -1
Three putt -1
OUT OF BOUNDS. Game over. You lose.
Two "Presses" are allowed:
(1) Player who is down after 9 has the option of pressing which means that all points on the back 9 are doubled. (2) At any time after #14, the player who is down may press again, which means TRIPLING all points for the last 4 holes.
Except for making a birdie or an eagle, your score is unimportant, but the emphasis is on being REWARDED for good golf shots. As we are both modest, but usually very accurate players, there were alot of points earned. During one game I was 9 points up after 11 holes, but down 3 after 15 holes as my friend made two birdies, so with the points doubled, no lead is safe. During the other two games, I was down teeing off the last hole and had to make birdies on both to win. As the two of us both play in a lot of tournaments, this situation simulated the "pressure" that exists during a tournament and forced us to focus on making good shots.
If playing a 9 hole game, we gave single points for #1 to #5, doubled for #6 to #8 and tripled for #9. We had a blast.
