How are your goals coming along....

    My aspirations, legitimate or not

    1. Look to get handicap to 10 or better.
    2. Look to play 80-100 rounds.
    3. Make intersectional team at club.
    4. Get rid of that pesky fade with driver, only club in bag that is not straight or drawing.
    5. Try not to take this frustrating game so serious, hey were are not pros right!

Looking back on the thread that Garth M started earlier this year and seeing my goals for the year got me wondering how everyone else did this year.

    Results

    1. Handicap is at 6 right now= success.
    2. Have played over 70 rounds at my course and many more at others= success.
    3. Did not make the intersectional team but made it to the semis of the match play= not a success.
    4. Driver neither fades nor draws, never quite sure what is going to happen= not a success.
    5. Have had alot more fun this year playing than in years past= success.

    3 out of 5 isn't all bad.

    1. Pick a set of irons - Well, that didn't happen, although the Golfsmith ProForged blades I'm currently using are very promising.
    2. Get an Eagle - I'm a fairly long hitter but prior to this season had only ever had one Eagle despite numerous opportunities. This season I've had four, so that was a goal accomplished.
    3. Lower my handicap and be more consistent - Gone from 9.6 to 8.8 and despite a fe bad stretches have been pretty steady.
    4. Play some tournaments - I did play 3 OG Tour events this year, not as many as I would have liked, but it's a start. Also played in a Men's Open at Atlantide Golf Course in Montreal back in June and played the back 9 of my life in -2 34 to win Men's Low Gross. Won a skookum trophy and some nice parting gifts (see profile pic).

    Goals were:
    1. Make Alexander of Tunis field for 3rd year in a row before turning 60. Done
    2. Win Club Championship for 3rd year in a row. Done.
    3. Win OVGA Seniors Championship. Done.
    4. Play in RCGA Seniors Championship. Made field but had to withdraw.
    5. Make provincial team in Quebec seniors Championship. Did not play.
    6. Get handicap back down to plus side. Currently +0.7

Added a victory in the OVGA Senior Tournament of Champions, senior CC and a couple of senior invitationals to the list so the year has been good, but regardless, the above were incidental to: 1. driving a little better, 2. hitting my Wishon irons better, 3. putting a lot better.

Pitches and chips need some work. Am already working on three minor swing adjustments for 2006 AND have started a fitness programme which hopefully will increase my driving distance from 250 to 255.

Great playing. Let us know how you faired out in the OU Championship.
BTW: Finishing 2nd and 3rd in those tournaments is not a failure, but a success. The difference between winning and not in golf is usually just "the blink of an eye." Just being in contention is an accomplishment.

I had two very simple ones for this year.

    1. Get index into the single digits and keep it there.

Started the year at 11.6 and even with my end of year slump, am currently at 7.4. So successful on this one. It's a good thing the season is ending soon though.

    2. Get a hole in one.

Had several very close calls this year, including a couple of lip outs, but alas there was no joy to be had.
