How long have you been playing golf?
We talk about lots of different things but I was just curious; how long has everyone been playing for?
I've been playing since August last year. I assume I'm one of the newest players.
Just curious how long everyone else has been playing.

Been playing for five years. First year as a member anywhere anywhere and competed in some club events. Don't think it qualifies as competitive golf though.

I started smacking balls around the field near my house with friends about 35 years ago, after my uncle gave me his old set of clubs. On the course started about 30 years ago, not many rounds then though, too expensive at the time for me. Joined Dome Hill as lifetime member (history, best left alone that one) and played over 150 rounds that and the following year before they went bankrupt. Been an avid golfer since, still cannot afford to play every day, but maybe some year I will.

Never heard it called Dome hill before. Did it go bankrupt just before Clublink bought it... I am guessing that was in 98-99?

Yes, that is the place, originally called Dome Hill. I have some shirts from their with their emblem that I got as prizes from tournaments. They originally sold "Lifetime" memberships, limited in quantity of course. I was like the third last one to buy into it, so I had much less use than my friends who bought in earlier. It was a wash for us all in the end though.

years of golfing
I am in my third year of golfing and still as crazy about the game as the day I started. If I could plaY everyday, it would be great , I guess it will have to wait until retirement in 9 years when I turn 49.

Played my first round on a real course in 1963 when I was 9. At the old Glenlea (Champlain). Shot 125.

That was my first course too, around 1975. I shot 120 something, but my brother told me pickup my ball after 10 strokes, so who know what it really would have been.

Zoic;
I just finished a chip session; I play at the Conroy fields alot; they have serveral soccer fields so it's wide and long. It's amazing for night golf after a fresh cut. The balls are 10$ each but if you don't loose it you can play as much as you want for 1.50$ (glow stick refills.)
I just had to get out as it's so "nice?" outside right now from the weather we've been having. Unfortunately have 2 weekends worth of work to cram in so can't make it out.
What part of town are you in?

I am a block away from the Nepean Sportsplex, Woodroffe and Hunt Club.
I thought of using the soccer fields behind the Sportsplex (behind the high school really), but thought I would quickly be kicked off for hitting golf balls. I enjoy golf games, like using the ring from lawn darts and trying to chip into it.

Well we're in the same boat than Zoic. I play at all sorts of schools and fields basically you just gotta realize that if anyone comes to play any sport or hang out or walk with kisd they DO HAVE THE RIGHT to do that. Your the one hogging large amounts of space doing an activity that is potentially hazardous to otehrs health

This is my first full year and I am 37 years old. I have played about 20 rounds this year. Last year I played 7-8 rounds. Last year was the start for me.
I am lucky though, cause I have got my wife and brother in law addicted to the game too. The only arguements we have are over who gets to go playing next as one of us has to stay behind to watch our two year old.

played for 2 years when I was 12 & 13 or 13 & 14..can't remember. But I remember my 1st round. I could 'kill' my 5 iron and nothing else went anywhere (killing = 165 yards ) and knocking a solid 50-55 putts for a 127.
After those 2 years I quit, and only got back into 3 years ago when a buddy picked it up. Sure am glad to have gotten back into it

For all those of you including myself that started as adults dont you wish you started earlier. I know I sure do; there was a golf course attached to my university a really nice 9 hole. I stayed for 3 summers doing catch up than reach ahead with the time I had I could of played 18-36 holes daily for 10$ a round. :S

32 years for me. Just like the song goes, "still crazy after all these years."
