Bell Canadian Open
It's finally here! Are you going to watch it? Will Weir make the cut? Can VJ defend, probably yes unless he plays ping pong again!

Of course I'm gonna watch it. Very special annual event for me.
In 1997 I got to photograph it from inside the ropes at Royal Montreal. It's an experience I'll never forget. Walked several fairways just yards from Greg Norman and Steve Jones as they battled it out (Jones won). They were 10 - 20 deep outside the ropes. Just amazing.

I envy you guys. Here in Indiana we don't get much PGA golf except for TV. Also you guys have a great hometown hero in Mike Weir, I love that guy. Our hometown hero is Fuzzy Zoeller who won the Masters but, he is also well known for his racial remarks. Anyway enjoy and I hope Weir wins!

Mike Weir is +5 through 6 with no pars and one birdie. Time to find the groove, Mike.

A little early to call
Give him a chance. Mike birdied 4 of last 5 to come in at 1 over par. He is not done and definitely has something to play for tomorrow.
A few pars on the front and it could have been a good round.

That kind of cash is pretty easy to make up on tour these days.
He has only played in 20 tournaments and made 13 cuts. So it is not like he is worn out from playing.
He needs a good showing this week to boost his confidence. He admits his putting has been brutal, and that is true. He is 179th in putting average this year. That just ain't going to get it done on the PGA.
Hey he said he wanted to be there on Sunday in a duel with Vijay for the title. That says a lot about his character. My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

Scores
I checked the scores from the opening round of the BCO. The Walrus kicked his son's butt by 6 strokes! The old man was even, Kevin +6. I wonder how the steak tasted last night
High score, Chris Ming, +16, 4 double boogies on his card
Calc rises up and shoots -5. Jesper is -4. Great scores on that course. I watched a lot of yesterdays telecast and man that rough is just brutal!
Did anyone else notice this or am I missing something here. It seemed that Rod Black (who I normally can not stand when he does golf telecasts) has seemed to tone down his act? Usually he goes on and on about someone going low, yada yada and it usually is quite annoying to listen to him. Nelford on the other hand is a pleasure to listen to as he knows the game well.
Here's hoping Mikey and the rest of the Canucks have great rounds today. Oh and Vijay too.My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

I guess it's a fitting end to Mike's year. A sloppy one at best.
I feel bad for him but a true test will be how he bounces back next year, Good luck in 2006I've spent most of my life golfing .... the rest I've just wasted"

I too feel bad for him, must be very hard to take when you can't make the cut at your own championship Looked like a pretty touch course, no Mickey Mouse that's for sure.
