I just saw this on TV the other day, there is either a pro or an amateur who does this all the time... rain or shine...

    Maybe he should try snooker.

True. I've seen this guy too. I think he plays the EURO tour, and to my knowledge the guy lines up EVERY putt this way. Bizarre pre shot routine for sure, anyone know this guys name?

Hothot. Nothing like a good old Sharpie. Find an excuse to mark your golf balls before the round starts but be careful not to burn yourself. Watch him on the greens too. After spotting his ball he'll advance it by a foot when he replaces it.

You could still drop one out of your pocket.

Yah, but I've had several returned to me after events. The golf gods take a dim view of such antics.
Speaking of the golf gods... "Faldo" - "red pants" - "uber dude"- "Lemoine" bought a round for the OGTour fellas because he could not do so at Smuggler's Glen where he scored his ace days before, because they had no clubhouse yet! George has paid his homage to the golf gods in a way few would... Hats off to ya Faldo, and you know you deserve a few more HIO's for that gesture!

Actually according to the R&A decisions (14-3/13.5):

Q: Is the use of a golf ball that was purposely warmed during a stipulated round with a golf ball warmer, hand warmer or any such device a breach of Rule 14-3?

A: Yes. However, it would not be a breach of Rule 14-3 to use a ball that was artificially warmed prior to the stipulated round. (Revised)

This means that we can all microwave our balls.

Pro shops should make a microwave available.
    Back at it.
