Tampa would have to be up there but with no goaltending in this league your done! Maybe they can steal Luongo (sp)! For that reason my list is:
1.Ottawa
2.Philly
3.New Jersey
4.Vancouver
5.Pittsburgh (out on a limb)

Beware of the Oilers and Flames...
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

It's still a little early but if teams weren't going to move any more players I'd have to go with:
1. Colorado
2. Ottawa
3. Philadelphia
4. Vancouver
5. Calgary
P.S. I was on holidays and missed the entire Hossa vs Heatley thread and I think that the trade is absolute freakin' garbage!!!!!
Anyways, back to the top 5......

It would be nice to see them make the playoffs though..... oh wait! Washington and Pittsburgh will finish better than the Habs. Hope they get the 1st pick overall in next year's draft then.

Well considering what they had to work with,Knocking out the big bad bruins in the first round isnt so bad
Loosing to the stanely cup champs in round 2 last year i can live with.
Choking to the leafs year after year?i dont know
What makes Washington so good?
Even with Crosby, pitts. make the playoffs?I'll be suprised.
GO HABS GO!!!

Talk to an NHL scout last night. He like Atlanta but not really excited about Philly...
He mention some of the other team that we all like, Vancouver, Ottawa, ...

Shtick,
You are changing the subject of the thread.... lol
I don't really think Colorado will be a top 5 team this year.

Pits could have a good run this year depending on Mario’s health and goaltending. Add speedy Mark with Sid the kid!!! It could be interesting.
Habs have a decent chance of making the playoffs this year. Bob is a great GM. He did a great job in Dallas. He is lowly building up this team for success. I think they will give the Sens a run for top spot in there division. Don’t forget the Sens have a new coaching staff. Adjustments may need time for the Sens to get back to form.
Can’t wait for the season to start.
GO HABS GO!!!

I think Ottawa will be in the top 5 but I'm not confident Hasek is their answer for goaltending. He wasn't anything special the last time he played in the NHL with the Wings and he's already mentioned he's pretty much only interested in one season of play. Who's going to step up after that? Emery? BAHAHAHA!! Yeah right. They should go after Luongo and get rid of Redden and Phillips. I think Phillips has stone hands and that Redden has more giveaways in the playoffs than points in the last couple of years.

Phillips does sometimes have hands of stone but he's there to prevent goals, not score them. As a stay at home defenceman Phillips is very solid, and has been improving every year. Players like Phillips are a goalies best friend, trading him would be (another) HUGE mistake.
IMO Redden would garner greater interest and have a lesser impact on the team if he was moved.

Top 3 teams:
Colorado
Philly
San Jose
Worst 3 teams:
Montreal (can't believe some of you are actually saying they'll win the Cup)
Washington
Toronto

I'm not saying they don't have an outside chance, but I don't honestly believe Montreal is a very good team. They are in desperate need of defence, and still have no offensive identity to speak of. Not sure if it's a coaching thing, but they aren't getting the most out of Zednik, Kovalek or Bulis, while guys like Ribeiro and Ryder are over-achieving. It is a lot easier for someone to fall from over-achieving then for an underachiever to pick up the slack IMO, so I think you Habs fans are in for some bitter disappointment this season.
