    Weirsy changing it up!

Mike Weir is going with a new look at the PGA. I think he needed to change something to regain his form. His pairing for the first two rounds, with Duval and Curtis, also might give a little spark.

    Go Weirsy!!!!!

I'm not sure I'd want to play with Duval and see those poor shots.

PGA has always made up some crazy pairings. Perhaps Mike Weir's pairing with DD and BC is the result of "Major winners to fall off the face of Earth this year"

dunno, but it's a 505 yd par 4 that is playing to a 4.6 stroke average so he isn't the only one having problems with it.

Tiger just double bogey'd the 7th. He played the back first. He is +6 with 2 to play.

Then Curtis goes out and has a share of the lead
The other "Canuck" is tied for the lead. Sweet.

Really? Usually fans kick it back out of trouble, or jump in front of it, take one for team-Tiger and let it bounce off their head back into the fairway!

Not this time, he complained to an official that someone must have stepped on his ball while they were looking for it inside the hazard line. He said that it should not have been plugged like it was due to the fact he hit it into the trees, so it would not have plugged coming out of branches. Official would not allow him relief, he had to take a penalty drop. (That would make sense as the article said he was inside the hazard line) Here is the text from the Golf Channel article

"Nothing bugged him like the 554-yard 18th, the easiest scoring hole on the Lower Course.

A tee shot in the fairway would have left him a long iron to the green, but this drive sailed so far to the left that it clipped a tree and landed just inside a hazard line.

His ball was plugged so badly that Woods and caddie Steve Williams assumed someone had stepped on it during a brief search. No one could confirm that, so Woods wound up taking a drop where it entered the hazard, played back to the fairway and took bogey.

``If the ball hits a tree and ricochets down, and the ground is pretty hard there, it should not have embedded that far,'' Woods said. ``It was totally unplayable.''

Woods didn't get the ruling he wanted from the official, and he sure didn't get any sympathy from the players. He already has won the Masters and British Open this year, and was second at the U.S. Open.

``There's probably plenty of guys happy to see him down the leaderboard for a change,'' Appleby said. ``I don't think you're going to get some, 'Oh, I'm so sorry. What a pity.' You guys can write about someone else for a change.''

Now THAT is just too funny. Sorry cat, not this time. Tough cookies, take your penalty and play on. How many time has a fan thrown his ball back into the fairway?????

Imagine this from a guy who has 15 of his clonies moving a boulder so he had a clear line to the hole.

Why hire a tv crew? They are already over the top when it comes to the cat.

I didn't see it happen, but then why did Tiger say "somebody walked on it", was he referring to the spotters or crocodiles?

Phil is tearing it up...-5 through 9, -8 on the tourney...he must sense that Tiger is in trouble and he's got a good shot at winning his second major....

of course everytime I say something like this, a double bogey is not too far off....

    Sabbatini

Rory Sabbatini is also making a charge. Did anyone see those pants he had on during Thursday's round? He must have thought he was back home and going hunting!

Phil seemed pretty focused yesterday, maybe he is once again tired of listening to all the Tiger Tales.

How about Kenny Perry's eagle 3 on the 17th yesterday

Right now Woods is T102, long ways back:groupwave

Check it out, the Star-Ledger is reporting that the person who stepped on Tiger's ball might have been Steve Williams. IF that were the case, it should have been an extra stroke penalty, and thus Tiger signed an incorrect scorecard and should disqualify himself. The cited video, though, is not clear at all. It's through the trees and where they say he might have stepped on it, a little stutter step, doesn't look like where the ball was found. But it adds something to stew over....

Yeah I just saw that on the TGC. When first asked if he had stepped on it, Sir Williams said "NO". When asked the second time he said. "NO - but even if had, there would be no penalty stroke"
