Ottawa golf courses ranking
Hi
I'm new to Ottawa and I am looking for some "locals" to tell me where are the best places to play in the area.
I'm looking for pure golf at whatever cost as well as which represent the best value.
Thanks for the input.

Welcome Adam!
regardless of cost (public courses)
Marshes, Eagle Creek, Stonebridge (in that order).
Best value
Emerald Links, Meadows are two of my picks.
Private courses (if you can find a member)
Royal Ottawa, Hunt Club, Camelot, Talon (ClubLink) are all top notch.
Also we're 2 hours from Mont Tremblant. Lots of great courses up there (and fall into whatever the cost) category.

Agree with you on Eagle Creek and Marshes at any cost.
Meadows for best value along with Emerald Links.
And MUST adds to that list:
Le Sorcier (in Gatineau) and Pakenham in the west.
Also agree 100% with jeffc on Tremblant.I've spent most of my life golfing .... the rest I've just wasted"

Adding to the fray.....
My best two public: Eagle Creek and Stonebridge. Very different styles of course, both challenging.
Loch March is also nice for the conditioning, although not as much of a challenge.

My rankings would be:
Public (Whatever Cost):
Eagle Creek
Marshes
Stonebridge
Public (Best Value):
Eagle Creek (such a good layout that it qualifies in both categories)
Le Sorcier
Emerald Links
Private:
Royal Ottawa
Hunt Club
Camelot

Public:
Eagle Creek(hands down the most challenging course in Ottawa, from the tips), Heritage(cheap and challenging), Marshes. These are my favorites....
Private:
Hunt, Royal, Riverbend

I would also like to add Renfrew as a challenging course with great value for the money.

I'd say the best value ever for the buck is Packenham...their greens were faster and truer than Eagle Creeks the last time I played, and 1/2 the cost.

Pakenham is a good value farm course, but Eagle Creek is top notch.
I haven't played Montebello, but we are going to check it out instead of Heritage next year when we go on our golf trip. I am excited about that one!

The fairways and design don't compare, but the greens are in incredible incredible shape for a $38 course, seeing as the original post'er wanted the best value courses as well.
Definitely EC is a premium course, and Packenham is not.
Montibello reminded me of Emerald Links...short but tight.

For me, the best value for money have been Renfrew and Emerald Links so gfar, but I have yet to visit quite a few courses around the city.

Rideauview
9 years old or not, Rideauview has been one of the top three or five in Ottawa for decades. It's all very subjective, but still... I also agree that EQuinelle ranks up there these days, despite the lack of mature trees and club house. A very nice layout

On this forum many times the private clubs are not mentioned. It is not that those courses are not good it is that not as many people have had a chance to play them. Forgot to ad that for me the best in Ottawa is Eagle Creek. Have not played it this year but I love the layout.

Best Public - Loch March, Outaouais, Stonebridge
If you don't mind driving - add Whitetail and Montebello (I haven't had a chance to play Equinelle, but have heard great things)
Best Private - Camelot, Eagle Creek, Rideau View
