So looks like Phil is playing the Open. I thought he was banned from PGA events? Will the other -players that have won majors still play even if they are banned?

likely because it is a staged USGA event. He can also play in the Open Championship since it is open to all professional golfers.
LIV kinda reminds me of the WHA in the 70's , they threw a lot of money to lure star players but in the end the league disolved after 7 seasons. I see the same happening with LIV.
maybe not the best comparison I gave because hockey is a team sport but if the best players stay on the PGA tour , which I think for the most part will happen , then LIV is a 2nd class tour. I loved what Rory said at the Canadian Open , re: his 21 wins is 1 more than someone else.
At this point, it is virtually impossible to recoup their billions in funds they have tossed into LIV up to this point. I would think though that even if you are willing to piss away money without a care in the world, you would think that would only last so long. The SA must have some thoughts on that...
I'll cheer for him and Dustin (provided they made the cut) on Saturday and Sunday. I'm sure there will be some hecklers out there but they'll get the boot from security.
Imagine the conversation if Rory or JT were paired up with Phil or Dustin.
Golf channel showed the pairings for tomorrow and JT and Rory are not golfing with Phil or Dustin.
I think what bothered me was the hypocrisy. European Tour playing in Saudi for several years with the same sponsor as LIV and little said.
I find it interesting where DJ still has his sponsorships with TM but looks like Callaway has dropped Lefty.
Personally, I don't think Phil has a chance of winning anything anymore on the PGA anyways, so I see the move to LIV tour...
I think the Saudis are already regretting committing $200M to a guy who shot +10 in a 54 hole exhibition birdie fest and then missed the cut in the US OPEN by a gazillion strokes. They deserve each other.
It was a great tournament irregardless of the liv vs pga tour nonsense.
Quite an interesting course that one too , typical us open brutal rough & quick greens , makes for great watching imo
Love the irony of those results.
Yeah, they can no longer compete at an elite level and have no scruples taking copious amounts of sportswashing $$$ from the Saudis. Its disgusting.
DJ, Reed and Bryson have no problem competing at the elite level.
