So my Nike Sumo 5000 came at 45.75" and I really don't like it that long plus i am changing the grip this week so is there anything special i have to do it cut it?
I guess better question is anything i shouldn't do? can my normal saw do this?
I want to take it down to 44.5"

I've only ever seen shafts (I'm assuming it's graphite) cut with a chop saw. But they have blades that aren't as aggressive as regular circular saw (think sharp, jagged teeth) blade. I'm sure Andre or Chris could tell you what's the best type of blade to cut graphite shafts with. I wouldn't attempt it with just any blade. I believe a hacksaw blade would work though. I use those to cut my graphite hockey shafts and it comes off pretty cleanly.
There are saw blades designed to cut fibre glass as well as tube cutters. I guess a hack saw would work but try not to fray the fibres when cutting it. You may want to put masking tape on where you are making the cut.
The rule of thumb is to cut it 1/8" more than your ideal length. The reason for that is the rubber at the butt end of the grip is 1/8" thick.

You can cut it with a hacksaw. Make sure you have a fresh blade in it and be smooth :-)
Also wrap masking tape around the area to be cut to help prevent the fibres from fraying.
Also remember for that each inch you cut you will lose approximately 6 swingweight points, so if your Sumo is D3 now and you cut it by an inch and a quarter it will come in somewhere around C5 to C6.
If you have a dremel tool the the cutoff wheels work really well on graphite shafts.

Have never tried the hack saw method but you could always sand it down or grind it down as well. Do this ouside:lmfao
I've used a hacksaw before.
As others have already mentioned, wrap it in tape first (tightly!) and go carefully. A fine toothed blade also helps.
I have used a rod saw blade(which you can borrow if you'd like as I don't use it much anymore)

Dremel works too.
Fastest is chop saw. I have also heard of people using the following:
