Yes, it would be amazing for something to do what some thinks this machine does for $500. But it all boils down to what's measured.
What's measured is ball speed and club speed, nothing else. And the only "required" measurements are ball data (ball speed, launch, spin, axis) in order to reproduce accurate shots. In this case, all we have is speed.
Knowing that, you can't think this will be a ground breaking tool. For some, it'll be a great way to find out ball speed, club speed, and smash, and try to improve their smash over time. If that's not what you're looking for, then look somewhere else. My opinion of course.
The ES12 only measured ball speed, so the ES14 would also allow the golfer to see what CHS was needed to create that ball speed, ie. smash factor.
I'm not familiar with what the SC100 measures.
I agree goatbarn but I'm not sure it measures enough to do even this safely.
For example, one could improve a low smash factor by unconsciously delofting the club thereby ingraining a swing fault. The unit can't measure angle of attack, spin or dynamic loft so you'd never know.
In other words, faced with a low smash factor how does one decide if it is due to:
1) off center hits
2) non-optimum angle of attack
3) non-optimum dynamic loft
4) incorrect face angle
5) crummy golf ball :)
...just to name a few possible faults?
True Faulty.
Knowing smash is a good thing though. Some shots may "feel" better, but knowing your smash is a good way to learn what compression feels like. And once you know, I would think it'd be easier for one to be more aware of their solid-ness of contact....
Just trying to find a use for this thing!

Did anyone read the comments on the Test video? Someone said they calibrated it to their angles before hand with a Trackman then it ran really good?
You wonder if it could also read the de-lofting of the club, if that would really tune in angles more.
De-lofting vs AOA, which one would probably have greater effects?
I de-loft a lot so, Great Video!!! Thanks!!!

I think the unit will measure ball and club speed well. That's it! The rest you can take with a grain of salt. I would like to see it measure thin shots, shanks, snap hooks etc. These are the shots we need to see it measure.
Carry Distance doesn't seem tooo bad.
Wonder if they could actually make the unit any better, or if this is it?
I think Cory's video showed a miss hit that did not get measured.
Yes, there was a shot that was so far offline that it didn't even measure it. It is really meant to measure straight shots as any other shaping of the shot will alter the distance more than what can be calculated by measuring ball speed and direction.
We did calibrate the club to the proper loft before testing.
We found that if you constantly hit left / right that it is best to angle to the unit towards that direction.
We also found that ball flight distance can make a difference (you need at least 10').
And lastly, I covered the projector fan with some aluminum foil to prevent interference noise.
Hopefully that all helps :)
When the commenter said they had gotten their angles measured for a 7 iron (I believe) on a Trackman, I wonder if they meant that included the de-loft angle.
Like if you normally de-loft a 34-degree-7 iron, 4 degrees. Then you would put your 7 Iron Loft angle at 30 degrees into the unit.
Any advice on that?
Why would you bother putting any loft into the unit when it just make a guess on LA, AZ and spin anyway.
If the price was <$200 it might be worth it.
Spin wasn't too bad from the video but launch was way off.
I just wonder if golfers who de-loft a 7-iron for instance 5 degrees do it consistently?
Yeah it needs work, and if it was $200 it would be a lot better. Again the only readings that are consistent are BS and CS. So then what other products do the same readings for better?
Hi
Here is something I am looking at too . Measures swing speed, club speed and smash factor.

Some pretty good reviews. I do understand that they are not a TM or FS. LOL

Except the Yupiteru is in Metric basically. But at only $121 online....
Can you actually customize settings in Yupiteru too?
The price is right for the Yupiteru comparitively. There is some customization based on what club is selected. It would be a better unit if it had ability to show in imperical data. If you search hard you can find it under $100.
Hey All,
Just got an update from Ernest Sports:
The ES14 app is now available on the Apple App Store and Android Google Play. Both apps can be located by searching ES14 or clicking the following links; ES14- Android App, ES14- Apple App.
For your convenience, you will find ES14 placement pictures attached. These pictures will assist you in properly setting up your new ES14!
Great to see that they got the Apple App :)
Most on eBay are 120. You can by it in Japan cheaper on Ratuken. ** http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/a...y/item/gst-3g/
I read on the one forum that the spin was too high and launch so they lowered the Loft Angle for the given iron and they got the spin to 100-500rpms off, and the launch was pretty spot on. It was reading knock downs and high shots better too. They were using a Trackman.
Just wondering if anyone tried using that technique to correct it, and how it worked?
Can't believe how off the Estimated numbers can be. Just expected it to be +/-3 degrees or something close. That would be usable.
Really the estimated numbers can be totally useless depending on your swing.
Crazy to think people will actually try to learn from them!
Wondering what is going to the be the next Launch Monitor out?
