let me know how the crse is ...... actually thinking of retiring in Prince Edward County.
Shhh! Don't tell everyone. This is one of our areas hidden gems. It is a blend of the original nine hole course and nine added holes. Anything on the west side of the railroad tracks is the new holes.
I make my way across the bay from my home coourse two or three times a year to play this and look forward to every visit. Say hi to Scott Biggs in the pro shop.

Actually, retirement in the Picton area might be a good idea.
I discovered Sandbanks in 2005, and it's still a beautiful place in 2010.
Fishing seems to be fantastic and from what I heard, the golf season is l-o-n-g.
The course? Well kept, nice bentgrass greens. Friendly people. Definitely a course you can score on. Course design is not the most exciting. To tell you the thruth,
I found the clubhouse & restaurant to be the most noticeable aspects. I came back the night after my round with wife and daughters for the Friday buffet and it was a great evening overlooking Lake Ontario.
Played the back nine while I was Sandbanks a few weeks ago. There were some nice holes but the finishing hole is a pretty lame par 3. Some nice visuals along the water.
I just came back today from a 3 week stay in Cherry Valley (about 10km from Picton). Played Picton GC and really enjoyed it. Course was in good shape, is pretty interesting with some great views (number 6 is a great par 5 from the highest point on the course) A couple of strange holes, (12 and 18 is not the best finishing hole but all in all I really enjoyed it and a great club house too overlooking the bay.
If you are down there for a while check out Wellington-on-the-Lake (a nine hole course with a great range), Briar Fox (a rustic course that I really like) and Barcoven GC out at Carrying Place (a great track).
I've been going to PEC for my summer vacations for 8 years now...its a great part of the world. Enjoy!
Just booked for our foursome for Labour day weekend.
Out of town visitors can booked 60 days in advance! :thumbsup
Long shot questions.. how was the pace on week day afternoon (Friday)? We've got 2PM tee time and hope to get back by dinner. It's a camping trip after all. I know for sure one of the buddy could get chewed out by his wife and might end up pitching himself another tent. :lmfao
I played it at 4.00pm on a Friday and was done in 3.00hrs. I was only in a two-ball though.
I think the course is busier in the high summer with a lot of visitors, I think labour day weekend you will have no trouble getting round in 4hours max. There are a couple of longish walks between holes (to 3, to 9, and to 11) but nothing silly.
hope you enjoy it :)
Thanks for the info goochy. We'll have plenty pratice walks on Sandbank beach the day before to warm up for those holes you've mentioned. :thumbsup
Looks like the club house dining room has nice Friday night menu. I think we may found a way to appease the wives and kids after all. :cool
