Actually there a two 18's, Premiere, the original 18, and Legacy the newer course. The front 9 of Premiere is wet right now but a week of drier weather will be good. The back 9 is very dry considering the weather we've had. Legacy will be opening on Tuesday so can't comment on it right now.
Played Legacy yesterday and only the first green has some winter kill on it as the rest are in great shape. Course was very dry and well worth a trip as you will be pleasantly surprised with the conditions.
Good to hear Gerry. We gotta get up there this season and play a round with you and Lyle.
Hi, If it is of interest, here are a few notes I sent a friend about Greensmere:
- Easy to get to with an adequate range/practice facilities, very good practice green to illustrate what greens are like.
- I've played both 18s a lot over the years, both their Premier and Legacy courses.
- Front nine of their Premier course is a 'link' style, other 27 holes are parkland setting, some elevation changes, a few drastic elevations (two on Premier have 40 foot height tee shots).
- They have very good and fast greens, and have always been noted for them.
- Fairways are always in good shape, tight and well defined.
- Some walking between holes, more so in their Legacy course.
- Bugs are a problem at certain times of year cause almost a third of the courses were made in a wetland area.
- Some water several holes of the Legacy course.
- A few blind shots, quite a few dog legs.
- Overall it's challenging, less so on the links part of Premier, but particularly in terms of tee shots most of the holes.
- My rating of it in the Ottawa area, it's in the top 10 public courses.
