What would you guys say is the best Clublink course in the area? I vote for the Dome, but that's a very biased opinion.

What would you guys say is the best Clublink course in the area? I vote for the Dome, but that's a very biased opinion.
Not a Clublink member, so no bias here.
My ratings are as follows:
1. Talon
2. Kanata
3. Predator
4. Dome
not counting the conditions of the course this year, I would say:
1) Kanata - tight fairways and fast greens. If you can't drive the ball and play quick greens, the course will give you fits
If golfing through your backyard bothers you, then you probably will be a hater of this course as well....
2) Talon
Layout is very nice and it will be a GREAT course in a few years, but it really needs to have more trees planted - back along the road is pretty wide open. Also, very LONG from the tips.......several holes are almost unplayable for most golfers
3) Hautes Plaines
If Kanata drives you nuts for tight fairways, then this one will check you into the Royal Ottawa. Quick greens are true and challenging.
Leave the driver at home - not long, but anything less than 80 on this course is a good round of golf.
4) Predator
Course is wide open and VERY forgiving. You can play several holes multiple ways - #2 down 16 always seems to be a popular option
Beware of #8, or if the greens keeper puts tight, tight pins. Course can be challenging, but normally is very easy to play. Would be a great course if the course was tightened up, and the rough was grown - oh yeah...speed the greens up.
start the flames for these comments.
Here's my list...
Talon
Predator
Hautes Plaines (Dome)
Stonebridge (hehehehehehe)
Kanata
What's with Kanata??????? Play bad there do we????Quote:

My list:
1. Talon
2. Predator
3. Kanata
4. Hautes Plaines
If Stonebridge ever is a Clublink course it would compete with Talon as #1
1. Talon (Great layout, will be perfect when it matures)
2. Kanata (Very mature and tests every aspect of your game)
3. Hautes Plaines (Be in play, if not your dead. No mercy course. Best conditioned course in the region in my opinion minus the greens this year.)
4. Predator (Wide open boring course. Great if you’re having driver problems)
Same list as you for almost exact same reasons :thumbsupQuote:

And if you haven't played Predator, the rough is getting thicker and higher. Getting a bit harder to get out of!

Who cares how high the rough gets; if you can't hit those fairways, then you should be worried about more than the size of the rough..

Have to agree with Colby 100% on his list and comments on Kanata.
I guess I'm still just a country boy, but I don't like winding through houses.
Part of the reason I play golf is to get away from the "Madding Crowd"
le Fontainbleau is gorgeous. I'll play better there next time because I won't be driving into the traps. I was using the traps for aiming points, but because they're so big I was mis-judging the distance and driving into them.
Playing le Maitre next week.:)
I just played Fontaine Bleau on Sunday for the first time and it was amazing. I'd have to say it's one of my favs so far. As for this area, I really enjoy Kanata and Talon (home course). A group of us are heading up to Tremblant for 3 rounds at Le Maitre this weekend. I haven't played it yet so I'm really looking forward to it. Stonebridge may soon be the nicest CL course in the area though....;) ...kidding! It would be nice though.
I really like Fontainebleau and Le Maitre. I have yet to play Val des Lac and Quatre Domaines was really rough last spring when we played it, but supposedly it got much better latter in the season. Still the layout at Quatre Domaine #2 was very good.Quote:

Do we still have access to Quatre Domaines? I thought they let it go? There is no information on the clublink site. I remember calling about it last year and they did allow us but I thought it was the last year.... maybe I am mistaken.Quote:

There ya go...
My list:
Kanata (by far the best challenge)
Talon (getting there but still too wide open)
Hautes Plaines (good for the iron game)
Predator (a shank off the tees is still on the fairway!)
