Help : Is it possible to install regular tapered tip shafts in an oversized hosel.

Hey folks,
I bought a set of Wilson Ci7 irons. They are great clubs, but the shafts feels weird. I got used to the smotth feeling of the KBS tours and something bugs me in the stock TX-105.

I pulled the head of my 4 iron to try it with the KBS shafts, but big problem : I then realised that Wilson is still using a kind of fat shaft. Not as fat, but I think it's about .450!!

Now, is there a way to fit a regular tapered tip shaft (.355) in those oversize hosels? I looked at brass shims, but they don't seem large enough. Can I double brass shim?

All advice are welcome!!

I have used mesh drywall tape wrapped around the shaft as a shim successfully many times.

Simply, wrap it, apply epoxy and shaft as usual?

Chief, according to the chart you linked, the tip would .370. If that's the case a simple brass shim would work?

Although this seems weird, as I manage to put a .410 drill bit all the way to the bottom of the hosel.

Correct. But this will only work if the gap is not too big.

Based on the list the Chief posted the Ci7's are .370 shafts so a regular .355 to .370 shim should work.

they could be wrong. If you can inset a .410 drill bit then they certainly are. I just would not do it unless I could come up with something similar to what Billy Bob carries for Wilson woods.

I am afraid that there would be too much slack from .355 to .410
I guess you could try one and see what gives.

Next week, I'm suppose to have a bit of free time, so I'll start with one head. I'll measure the inside diameter of the hosel properly and if it's .370, I'll try the brass shim.
We'll see how it goes from there.

Quick update!
I measured the hosel diameter properly they are indeed .370. So I reshafted them using brass shims that I cut to 5/8". I was explained by a well known club fitter that usually, only the first 5/8" of a tapered shaft is actually tapered and the rest is pretty close to .370. The installation went very smoothly. I used Golfworks quick center to make sure the shaft and shims were properly placed and used a 24h epoxy.

Have played about 10 rounds so far and the results are great so far. The Ci7 heads with the KBS shafts is a great combo for me. Could not be happier.
