great.
Might be playing Smuggler's Glen Monday afternoon (April 22) if I can duck out of work.
Anybody heard anything about the conditions? I've never been there before.
Great course. Admittedly I haven’t been in a few years but it was always nice in the past and I doubt that has changed. It was also inexpensive in the spring and if I recall the sausages and beer after 9 were really cheap and quite delicious. But I have never played it in the spring and not come off the course with wet feet. It’s usually a little spongy this time of year. Not terrible but something to be mindful of
If the course says "cart path only" I think it's a good bet it's wet :-)
Champlain April 23. Gatineau April 26. Les Vieux Moulin April 26.
Cedarhill was in brutal condition when we played today. Course should not have opened and they certainly should not be charging 40.00.
Yikes, I'm golfing there tomorrow.
Played Mapleview golf club for the first time. I liked the layout of the course, great mixture of holes. Course was in quite good condition for this time of year and my wife and I were paired with two great gentleman who were great to play with.
The downside, the course double booked every tee-off (al least around the time we were there, 11:30am tee-off), so eight people every 8 minutes, we did not tee-off until 12:10pm and because it was double booked it was really slow (5 hours to play), had to wait on every hole. Will not be going back.
Pine View will be opening on Friday April 26th.
Not unusual for Cedarview to do that kind of thing, best practice, just don't go there anymore
Played Cedarhill today and the greens were terrible, lots of brown and punched. Fairways were wet and lots of leaves, lots of lost balls. Still, can only hit the driving range so many times.
Emerald Links Opens tomorrow.
i saw pictures of Mississippi and it is completely under water, dont believe will be opening anytime soon
Drove by Pineview today---lots of brown and it looks soft :-) I'd say wait for at least 3 weeks , opening prices are ridiculous.
Pineview is scheduled to open Friday.
That part of the Falcon Ridge is always soaked at the beginning of the season. The Raceview 9-hole course is usually decent at this time of year (along with 1 to 3 and 16 to 18 on Falcon Ridge), as these holes are built on an old sand quarry.
Mapleview in Perth was certainly playable on Sunday. A few wet spots and cart-path-only, but no plugged balls and decent greens.
Dragonfly opens Thursday 25 April, walking only.
awesome, heading there the first weekend of May, happy to hear it was in good condition. Thanks for the reply
Agreed. Played Monday and the conditions were horrendous.
2 temporary greens, almost every green in awful shape and 18 was basically the only hole that wasn’t completely soaked from tee to greeen. Many holes it was impossible to find a dry spot in the fairway.
$40 is a joke in those conditions and the round took nearly 5.5 hours.
Don’t play there often but I likely won’t be back.
It sucks and I feel for the local courses. It’s been a really long winter and I’m sure they want to open the doors ASAP and get some revenue flowing but dang this can’t hurt your brand in a really bad way. Again each course is different but from what I’ve seen locally it’s still too early to be open and unless you are discounting the round there is a big risk to leaving a less than favourable impression. Our club is 27 holes and has a 10 and 12 min tee time interval. I would walk off the course if a round took 5+ hours and I think it gets back to packing too many people in with compressed tee times. I know it doesn’t sound like a lot but 10-12 minutes (alternating) is a heck of a big difference from 8 mins. It’s all about underpromising and overdelivering and you set yourself up for failure if you try and compress the tee sheet. Just my two cents
cedar glen is open
its wet very very very wet
but its $20 for 18
that how it should this time of the year
not $40 or more to golf in a swamp
Cloverdale is opening up as well: anyone getting out there this week?
