If I cut 2 inches off my Odyssey Works Marxman Fang Tankputter will the head become lighter or heavier? Just don't like it at 34 inches.

Yes Dan, big time lighter.
The counter balance weight is in the grip end so the theory is to feel the putter's weight in your hands and not at the head. Suppose to favor a straight back straight through stroke in combination with a face balanced putter head.
Taking 2'' off will magnify the counterbalance effect.
And good luck with that if it was anything like my Odyssey Tank. They just put a heavy piece of steel down the shaft that is very difficult to cut without a heavy duty cutting blade.
If it's just a weight can I not just cut it and replace the weight back under the grip? Or do you have another solution. Or do you suggest not even going this route?
Just to clarify. My previous answer was based on replacing the counter balance weight at a length 2'' shorter.
