Cape Breton
Hi everyone,
I am likely attending a wedding in Cape Breton in the summer and would like to squeeze in a couple of rounds while there (Inverness area). However, the green fees for most of the courses seem out of this world! Does anyone have any suggestions for a person on a budget?
Thanks

You can check out Le Portage in Cheticamp, much cheaper than Cabot for sure but a drive north from Inverness. If you can swing it (pun intended) The Cliffs is now the number rated course in Canada, but expensive as you mention.

To me the best value for a great course is the lakes in Ben eoin. I play 2-3 rounds there each year when I head home. Beautiful course.

Nice course for sure and like you, play there a couple of times each summer when I am back in Cape Breton. It is a bit of a drive from Inverness though and Hardcore was looking for something in the Inverness area I believe.

There aren't many options close to Inverness (Cabot courses aside). As mentioned above, Le Portage in Cheticamp is the best option with a drive of 45-60 mins from Inverness. My pick would be Bell Bay in Baddeck, which is a little more than an hour from Inverness. It's a beautiful course with great views of the Bras D'or lakes. Also near that area is Dundee. The course is short and very hilly, but it's one of the cheaper options within a reasonable drive.

To each his own but Cliffs really is worth it I think. There are lots of overpriced courses worldwide but this isn't one of them.
