I've never been a fan of either player, so this good news.
yep, two big liabilities gonzo....
I feel for Cheechoo because he always gave it a good effort. Unfortuately it is not good enough in todays game and he is making way too much money for what he produces. It will get him off the cap books, but Melnyk is still going to have to pay him or buy him out because no one will pick him up, even if the cost is split on the callback.
Too bad for Cheechoo... after his hernia operation and knee problems he was never the same. You guys can't imagine where this kid comes from. It is a miracle that he made it to the NHL.
Why don't you fill us in? I'm ignorant to what you are talking about.
Cheechoo was consistently one of the hardest working Senators, but unfortunately his skating has deteriorated to the point that it looked like it affected his hands/shot. He just couldn't get the leverage (not sure if that's the right word) to fire the puck like he used to. Like I said, it wasn't for lack of effort.
Too bad, seemed like a good guy.
The team is just too deep now for Cheecho to take up a spot although I feel he is exactly what I would want out of any 4th liner. But Melnyk probably feels that this is a year to make a push and that frees up a bunch of cap space.
Now Murray said we are gonna have to get a dman to fill the missing spot, anybody think Souray could be a possibility? If not who else maybe? Without Cheecho's contract they can afford a big time rental dman
I hope they go after a guy like Dan Hamhuis if Nashville will let him go. He is a UFA at the end of the year and could prob get him signed at 3.5m. Souray is not really what we want here, as he has another year at 5.4m cap hit and that would make it hard to sign Volchenkov. but who knows it's hard to get a good D-man it seems.
Hey guys,
Did any one claim Cheecho or is he going down?
Nobody claimed him. He went down and scored his first goal with Bingo within minutes of his first game there :-)
Nobody in their right mind would pick him up at full pop, and I doubt anyone would pick him up at 1/2 price on the way back up. Furthermore, I would think Murray would rather not have any of his salary on the cap books to provide more room to make some deals this week.
Thanks for the answer...I think your right about the cap room....wonder what Mr.Murray has in store for the Sens...
I wonder what help my Team might find as well...Boston.
