Web hosting recommendations

Looking to move my wife's website from the company it is being hosted through, to something more reliable. I am tired of calling a local number and getting someone in another country to try to troubleshoot why her website and email goes down from time to time.

If there are any first hand experiences with any companies, I would love to know. Also, does anyone have any experience with moving a live website and mail content from the server from one hosting company to another?
