Barter is taxable.
no way...Saputo, Desmarais, Thompson Family, Weston family, Rogers family etc....I have never seen Desmarais in the newpapers in collection with CRA!!!....When your are big CRA is small..Otherwise they will just bring their business elsewhere...USA UK etc
Have you thought about liability insurance, sole propritorship or incorporating your venture for buisiness registration and commercial taxes purposes just to name a few of the expenses that will come your way ?
Only need to worry about being an official business if I make something like $35000/year (which I will not even come close to).

What you might want to consider is
(a) if you run a business, ALL of your personal golf equipment, and golf (testing products), is tax deductable. AND,
(b) you can run your business AT A LOSS, for a couple of years anyway, and apply the loss against your principal income. The CRA won't let you do it forever but you can for at least 2 yrs and possible more.
Set up a sole proprietorship, which can be done on line for less that $100.
Good luck - small business people are real people.
