Knee replacement
A buddy of mine who is 72 but still is very active and plays slow pitch ball and conventional pitch ball in the summer as well as curls in the winter may be on the verge of needing a knee replacement (apparently half knee). He doesn't know anyone who has had one and his concern is that he'll get one and find he will no longer be able to play his sports ever again. He wonders if you can run on it and how hard? Is the range of motion better with an oval or round replacement?
SO anyone out there have one of these knee replacements and other than golf, can you play other sports that requires running or a deep knee bend like curling.
Any feedback will be much appreciated.

That is a tough call at his age , I have not had knee replacement done but I had reconstructive surgery done on my foot 2 months ago and the recovery is long, 4-6 months. You have to be positive, patient and be prepared to rehab properly to regain full functionality when you have any kind of joint replacement or reconstructive surgery.
There are lots of good forums on the Internet to communicate with individuals who have had similar surgeries. Healthboards.com is very informative.

Thanks for the info cleek. Still looking for responses from those who have had a knee replacement here in Ottawa. Interested to know who did the surgery and where it was done,
