Beacuse they are taper shafts. No tip trimming needs to be done on taper shafts. Please provide a link to the CS trimming.

Taper tip shafts are manufactured/designed to be butt trim only.
Parallel tip shafts, with a couple of exceptions, are designed so that for each shaft you trim a specific amount from the tip and then the rest from the butt. The long irons have less tip trim than the short irons so if you take a 4i shaft and put it into a 7i you would need to trim the tip (probably 1.5") and then from the butt.
If it's a taper shaft and you put the 4i shaft into the 7i, the 7i will play to a much softer flex than the other clubs in the set.
Thats what I am saying but three people have already said that I have to tip trim. Also I used the close match guide to the CS which is TT TX-90 taper tip went to the golfworks site and its code is to butt trim.

Exactly. Taper shafts do not need any tip trimming but each first step is .5 longer per club (the distance from the heel of the club to the first step- line up the clubs against a wall and you will see this progression) . So if you do so it will not only play softer but the butt part that you will cut away to get it to 7 iron length will make the grip smaller as the butt of the shaft decreases. See the following for step pattern. You will need to scroll down almost to the 2nd page to view the details.

Taper tip shafts are specifc to each club.
If you want a taper tip shaft for a 7i, you need to buy the 7i shaft. You are talking about putting a 4i shaft in a 7i head. It will play too soft if you do that.
Ok so when I go to this site http://www.golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_TX90I
why can I not choose the i7 shaft?
Because those are the parallel tip shafts which need to be tip trimmed. You'd have to choose a taper shaft and then specify 7i.
Check the following:

Ok, can somebody help me find the shaft that would closest fit my set that I could use? Please, and I will never slam a club on the ground again.
This is probably your best bet.

Should i have any problems if I buy this http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=260172237053 , I mean switching the shaft from a left handed club to a right handed one?
There's no such thing as a left/right handed shaft, so no problems. Of course you are assuming that the G2 has the same shaft as the G5.
According to the ping website and http://www.golfworks.com/images/art/...m#karsten/ping
they do. Is there any other resourses I can use.
I'm thinking the list may need to be updated cause according to the Ping site the specs. are exactly the same.

why does the shaft need to be the same, just get whatever you can find and put it in. Whats the big deal? We aren't pros, so what if the ball flight is a bit diff with your 7i
Ok I know you shafts are the same as my, I pull your 7 iron shaft and put one in yours. HEHEHE
If you get mine pulled and installed by andre or chris... I have no problem with this as long as the shaft is of equal value :)
I am joking, put pulling the shaft is the easy part.
please tell me you didn't just use your wind resistant lighter to pull this shaft. I could picture you doing something like that
I just stuck the club in the fireplace. On a serious not work in Golfworks today getting some tip. Changing a steel shaft is not all that hard. I have on quick question, they did not have the shaft I was looking for a reg 38 inches, but the guy there told me that a stiff 40 inches shaft would be the same as a 38 inch reg? Is this true, I thought cutting a shaft shorter would make it stiffer?
Okay first time changing a shaft and success! I would would advise who ever is thinking a tring this to go ahead. It is not that hard, is fun to do and you feel good when done.
shaft - $14.95
grip - $7.00
glue - $1.45
grip tape - $0.45
have a 7 iron in the bag - priceless
So I had a someone drop a shaft off the bg458 since I wasn't there to complete the deal myself so had him do it for me. Now he won't give me the shaft unless I give him the driver head and let him install the shaft... I'm not going to lie, I'm scared.
By looking at the size of your arms the ball should be the only thing scared.
are you hitting on me?
