Maintaining constant weight or swingweight
I was privy to a little discussion the other day about frequency matching a set of Titleist DCI 762's with True Temper Black Golds at 1" over standard with a midsize 61 gram grip. The one fellow said the best he could do was to maintain 8 grams apart in head weight from the 5 iron to the 55º Vokey Wedge. Although the swingweights were quite skewed. The irons were C9 to D1 but the wedges were; PW D8, 50º D7, 55º E1.
So, my question is what is the priority when it comes down to playability, Maintaining the 8 gram gap between the heads or going for the Swingweight target number, which in this case is D4?
I guess the underlining question I have is really how many CPM's will change when he adjusts for the swingweight and how will that effect the ball flight? Just how many Cycles are in question when it comes to hitting a draw or a fade??? Or can we simply get to anal about it all?
