bell satelite question

Hey guys....need some info regarding bell satelite receivers.

I recently moved into a two bedroom basement apartment in a house. The landlord includes tv in rent. They supply a cheapo basic receiver. How do I upgrade to hd receiver. They have hd upstairs I believe. Can I just plug my old hd reciever into their outlet and go or is there more to it than that? I wouldn't want to plug mine in and get them disconnected for stealing signals or anything like that. Any help would be appreciated.
