Forum: Instruction

This is the place to ask questions on the mechanics of the swing etc.

  1. Any tips?

I need some help. I was struggling with my driver earlier in the year. I went to stronger grip and straightened out my drives. Slowly but surely I have now developped a hook/pull in my irons, even worse when hitting off a tee. I have tried to weaken my grip but doesn't feel good to hold the club....

  2. Ball position

I heard something very interesting when I was at the Golf Show. An instructor was talking about how to place your clubhead behind the ball. He said all golfers create on or two types of centrifugal (sp?) force. You either pull away from the ball during your swing or lean forward. I'm not talking...

Just booked my first lesson. Never thought it would come to this. Anybody ever get instruction by Joe at Raceview/Falcon Ridge? If I knew his last name I'd have typed it.

  4. Looking for two drills!

Need help with a couple of things. 1) Need help with a drill to keep my front foot from "spinning out" during the downswing and follow through. I flare my front foot (right handed golfer) at bit at address, but it becomes more flared by the time I'm done my swing. And I think its causing me to...

Anyone have any drills to get that mentality out of the system? I'd really like to smooth my swing and tempo out, but just can't seem to get by that urge to knock the living snot out of the ball. Am heading down one road now and I'll report back on my results, but anyone have any ideas on how...

  6. Interesting

Was playing today and having continued driver struggles. So for a good chuckle I decided to give the ol' ten finger grip a try. Whammo, centre face contact and a slight draw. Thought it was a fluke so kept on doing it for the rest of the nine holes. Didn't lose one ball to the right, hit everything...

  7. Grip Pressure

Now I know you aren't supposed to have a death grip on the club. But just wondering if everyone uses equal grip pressure in each hand? Or do you have one hand that has just a little more pressure than the other one? Playing today, and hitting some shots out to the right. And thinking back, I...

  8. Would this make sense....

Been struggling with my driver lately. Hitting shots right, and way right. And playing with guys I'm normally right out there with, or past them, I was now 20-30 yds behind them. To me it felt like I was getting my weight forward on the follow through (I was hanging back). So I decided to try...

  9. Who's Got Some Free Time?

After my two recent rounds south of the border, I've come to the realization that somewhere over the winter I developped a major swing flaw. Not sure how that's possible considering I didn't play over the winter..... But here's the issue: I have lost 30-40 yds with my driver, and my once...

In my ever dying attemtp to rid myself of the occasional slice (I really don't mind my fade) I have been trying somethings I've been reading in the instructional sections of both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine. 12. Does This Make Sense???

So for my first two rounds of the year I've been hitting mostly weak fades/pushes/slices to the right. So for the last three holes at Dragonfly I went back to basics starting with keeping my lead arm (left arm) tight to my chest. Lo and behold, solid, straight contact. Would this be one of the...

I am now a firm believer in this. I was once told your golf swing should mimic your natural body rhythm.
