I was asked this weekend why on the score card the handicap for each hole is an odd number for the front nine and even numbers on the back. I didn't have an answer. Does anyone know?

Is it just me? Played the Champlain yesterday and my drives were much longer than usual. I ended in places where I had never been before. The fairways are not irrigated and with the little amount of rain we've had lately the course is very dry. Any similar experiences elsewhere?
