Golf talk that doesn't fit in one of the other forums

  1. Question Match Play - Do you play your worst or your best?

Played match play with a buddy of mine yesterday and I scored a good seven strokes worse then my average this year but I won the match. I found that I was really just playing the match instead of trying to score my best. Do you find that you play better in match play or worse?

  3. Match Play or Stroke Play?

So which do you prefer and why? Personally I prefer Match Play in a tournament setting because I am not quite good enough to compete with the scratch golfers in stroke play but, I feel I have a little more of a chance in a match. Now if my goal is to just go out and play with my buddies or try to...

  4. Match Play vs Stroke Play?

How many of you play match play instead of stroke play? A few years ago, a buddy and I would always play match play for a $1 a hole. I don't think I ever lost more than $2. More often than not, we'd end up even for the round. Over the last few years, it seems handicaps and stroke play are all...

  7. Mats at the range

Yes, I know.. this has been done before, but I was hoping to go into alittle more depth here. I'm finding at the range/indoor golf simulators I can really hit the ball well. I don't hit off the big fluffy mats though - I usually hit off the stuff we kinda stand on - green mats that's astroturf...

  9. Maybe Jack was right after all?

So we have a groove issue on tour, drivers have been limited in volume and shape and I wonder what is next. A while ago Jack Nicklaus proposed reducing the flight of the ball by 10 to 15% and caught a bit of heat on this. Thinking about it a bit more I think the idea has some merit as;...
