If you were to strike the ball better with a shaft that reads Amateur flex on it would you buy it or does it have to read "stiff" on the label. It seems to me that a lot of people go for stiff shafts mostly for ego reasons while they would be much better off with a softer flex shaft. Opinions?

I never understood why courses place a large tree in the middle of the fairway...leaving you no options. Too large to go over...and I am not talented enough to hook it around the tree. I don't think the typical golfer should have to deal with that obstacle....seems silly.
