Forum: Rules Of Golf

Ya gotta know the rules

  1. Deliberate hitting bag

This one has me stumped except for 1-4 perhaps. May a player deliberately aim directly at the bag or cart of a fellow competitor in order to negotiate a difficult stroke? Is there any difference between the FC's bag and a brick wall used for a ricochet in this situation?

Is it permitted to have a Condition of Competition requiring players to mark their balls and show the mark(s) to the starter before teeing off?

  11. Question Ball Plugged in Open Area?

Let's say all 3 of your playing partners watch you bomb a high drive out there on a par 5, it is creeping a little right of the fairway but nothing to worry about over there as there is simply a couple of little undulations in fairly well mowed rough. No hazards or OB abywhere near your ball. The...

I had a situation where my tee shot came to rest in a red staked area but was sitting up nicely with a 90 yard shot to the green so I elected to play it from there. Interesting ruling today in our first round of the CC at the Hunt... I hit a ball left into the trees between North 9 and North 1. Wow. Sorry, but the rules are lame sometimes. I know what Faldo said about the rules being black and white, and I agree. However, in no way did he deserve a two stroke penalty for that.

Hopefully Lyle or Gerry can chime in on this. I saw a tweet from my buddy who was questioning Tiger's drop on 15. It happened to my friend on hole #4 on the west course at the Canadian.
