Ya gotta know the rules

  1. Can I use a GPS and also a laser range finder at the same time?

Hi, I simply have a question regarding rangefinders. I would like to know if it legal for me to carry and use both a GPS rangefinder and also a laser rangefinder at the same time?

  2. Dropsy

A player’s ball lies on the line defining a water hazard. He plays a stroke and the ball ends up in the water hazard. He chooses to proceed under R26-1a. He drops and the ball lands just outside the hazard line and then rolls into the hazard. He lifts and drops again and the ball lands just inside...

  5. Bunker Play 2

Now how about this: Player is in a green side bunker and hits it out onto the green. The shot didnt carry as far as he would have liked, and as the ball starts to roll back towards the bunker, the player slams his club into the sand in anger. The ball comes to rest back in the bunker... is he not...

At the risk of posing the stupidest question ever (although I'm sure that Indio must have asked ones that were more stupid) I submit the following......... Are we supposed to have the rules and decisions memorized or are we allowed to carry and reference the Rules and Decisions as necessary?

  7. Double Trouble

A competitor hits his tee shot near a water hazard. Thinking the ball may be lost outside the hazard he hits a provisional into the same area as his original. The player finds both balls (one inside and one outside of the Water Hazard), but is unable to determine which is the provisional. What...

Player A and B both hit shots into a bunker and are on the same line of play. A plays first and advances his ball a few yards in the same bunker. He rakes his footprints, but his next shot hits the lip of the bunker and rolls back into the area he just raked. B then plays his shot and it also...

  10. 1 Ball rule

You're playing in a competitive round and you are using your trusty Titleist 3, ProV1X. You reach into your bag and pull out a dozen mini sharpies (for you sharpie junkies) and mark your ball with a navy blue line through the PROV1X on the 'side' of the ball. You hit your tee shot on #3 left,...

Player A plays his third shot from off the green. The ball does not reach the elevated green but instead rolls back and comes to rest against his bag. Player A lifts his bag and the ball rolls a few feet farther from the hole. He plays his next shot from this new position onto the green and...

In a match between Player A and B, A is looking for his ball in an area covered with leaves. He inadvertently kicks his ball. 1) A player hits his approach shot towards the green. The ball flies over the flagstick and strikes the green, leaving a pitch mark, and bounds into the rough beyond. 16. Options?

An easy one to get your heads wrapped around the game again. :-) A player hits his shot from the tee (A) and his ball first strikes the course just beyond the hazard line (B), and then rolls back into the hazard, finishing at (C). What are his options?

  18. Hi-MOI putter as 'play club'

I am not sure of the real answer... If I use a high MOI putter....like 12,000, off of the tee. hence play club' would this cause immediate disqualification since the limit for a driver is like 5,900? The putter would have like 3-4 degrees of loft , with a driver typically 9-11. David
