  1. Sticky Thread Sticky: 2024 Early Openings

Got an email from Calabogie / Pakenham a couple of days ago. Here's what they are hoping for ..... cut and pasted directly from the email ... The weather is pushing for an early start to the 2024 season and so are we. If the pattern holds our plan is to open Calabogie for St. Paddy's Day!!!...

  1. Course Openings?

Since my question regarding this was far into a thread about something else, I thought it best to re-post it in a fresh one. Does anyone know FOR SURE that Calabogie will be opening in a week? Any other courses out that way that might be opening at the same time? Dragonfly, Renfrew, Arnprior...

  2. Early Bird Deals?

Although this has been posted earlier, there was only one response, so let's try again. Is anyone aware of any early season deals at local Ottawa Area golf courses? I can't imagine they are all charging full pop with the weather as it is. Any info appreciated. Dan

  3. Looking for a game!

Hey all, hope your week was good! My golf partner pulled an all-too-familiar move on me this weekend and bailed on our scheduled rounds. If anyone is willing to trade a lift for some beer, I'd love to hook up for at least 18 holes if not 36 on either day this weekend. Obviously time is...

Well, I'm not giving up on the possibility of going out one last time, but the weather is starting to look bleak. 7. Dragonfly - Great Shape!!!

Had a frost delay, but got off by 10:30 or so with the first group. Was chilly, but the course is in prime shape. Great greens, very little debris, overall 8/10 on the season's peak. Plus, they seem to have some deal on, although I'm a member and didn't take the time to enquire... Call ahead....

  8. Punched Greens

A sad necessity in golf course management, from what I understand. The greens at Dragonfly were punched yesterday, and I'll get a first hand look at them today. They were in relatively pristine shape until now, but I guess to stimulate new growth you have to do this periodically. At $36 for...

Played Norway Bay on sunday, second time in last 2 weeks. I first played Norway Bay about 10 years ago for the first time. Intriguing layout, but a cottage course, with conditions to match. Over the years, I noticed some serious deterioriation in the course, with last year being the worst...

I must say the course is in great condition. Never liked it much due to the lack of trees or basic beauty. But can't argue with my score, hit a 45 over nine holes. Played very consistant golf but my putter should have dropped 2 birdies. That would have been the icing on the cake.
